Ngaramura Project

The Ngaramura Project, delivered by Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation and funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency, supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people through culturally meaningful pathways in education.

The Ngaramura Project supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who may be at risk of school suspension, expulsion, disengagement, or who feel disconnected from culture.

We work alongside each young person, their family, and their school to develop personalised support plans. These plans help students reconnect with their learning and create pathways back into education, further study, or employment.

What the program offers

Ngaramura brings together three key areas of support:

  • Cultural connection – strengthening identity, heritage, and sense of belonging
  • Education support – learning in core school subjects within a supportive environment
  • Personal development – building confidence, life skills, and positive behaviours for school and beyond

Program impact

The program has achieved strong outcomes for young people:

  • Around 85% of referred students re-engage with school
  • Improved attendance and academic performance
  • Fewer behavioural issues reported
  • Stronger sense of belonging and connection
  • Pathways into further education or employment

Who can access the program

Referrals and enquiries are welcome from:

  • Schools
  • Parents and carers
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people
