Art

Our Art

Art is central to life at Coomaditchie. As artists, we create works that reflect the stories, colours and knowledge of the East Coast Saltwater People. Our work is shaped by our connection to Country and community, and can be seen across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven in schools, hospitals, parks, galleries and public spaces. Each artwork is a way of teaching, connecting and sharing culture with the wider community.

Our artists are supported with materials and space to create, and works are available for purchase directly through this store. When you buy a Coomaditchie artwork, you are bringing a living piece of culture into your home or workplace, and directly supporting the artists and programs that make this community thrive.

Commissions and Public Art

We work with local councils, schools, universities, businesses and community organisations to create public art that speaks to place and history. Every project is a collaboration, grounded in our cultural knowledge and shaped by the stories we carry.

We also take on private commissions. If you are interested in a custom artwork for your home, workplace or community space, we would love to talk with you about your ideas.

We are experienced in delivering works of all scales, from small personal pieces to large public murals, mosaics and installations. We also offer art licensing for organisations interested in using Coomaditchie designs across products, publications or built environments.

Our Work in the Community

Coomaditchie artworks are held in collections at the University of Wollongong, Shellharbour and Wollongong Councils, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, and Wollongong Art Gallery, among many others.

Workshops

Our workshops are hands-on, creative and grounded in culture. They provide an opportunity to learn directly from Coomaditchie artists and community members through artmaking, storytelling and connection.

We run workshops for schools, community groups, businesses and private organisations. Programs can be tailored to suit different ages and groups, whether it is painting, weaving, storytelling, or cultural learning through creative practice.

Workshops can be held at Coomaditchie Hall, on Country, or at your own venue. They are a meaningful and memorable way to engage with Aboriginal culture in a respectful and interactive setting.
